Report of the
District Committee of General Purposes
Annual Convocation 13th March 2010.
The Committee on behalf of all Royal
Arch Masons in the District of Guyana expresses regrets on the passing of the ME
Past Pro First Grand Principal, the Right Honourable Lord Cornwallis.
Following the half -yearly Convocation of September 19th, 2009, the
Committee met on Saturday February 20th, 2010.
Obituary
The Committee regrets the passing of E
Comp Bertram Albert Ho, PZ of Silent Temple Chapter No.3524..
Finances
The Accounts of District Grand Chapter at December 31st 2010
indicated a Balance of $ 444,703. Only one Chapter continued to be indebted to
District Grand Chapter at the end of 2008.The extent of the indebtedness is $
40,000. That Chapter has since undertaken to settle these arrears at an early
date in 2010.This represents a significant improvement in the response of
Chapters in the District with respect to management of their finances. It is
hoped that this welcome development will continue.
Administrative Matters
All nine Chapters have submitted completed Annual Returns for 2008. This
includes Ituni Chapter for which the By-laws have been approved by the MW First
Grand Principal. Annual Returns for 2009 have not been received. The Committee
reminds Chapters to apply for Supreme Grand Chapter Certificates in a timely
manner, as a number of new Companions have still not received their
Certificates. The Committee continues to be gratified by the continued improved
attendance and participation by Chapter Principals at Committee meetings.
Attendance by Officers of District Grand Chapter to Royal Arch Ceremonies
in the District has, however, declined in recent months and District Officers
and members of the Committee are reminded of their commitment to support the
work of the constituent Chapters and to promote growth and sustained interest in
Royal Arch Masonry in the District. . The meetings of the new Ituni Chapter have
continued to be relatively poorly attended, However, the Committee is encouraged
that this Chapter will be exalting two Brethren at its March Convocation.
Companions from the other Chapters are encouraged to make every effort to
support Ituni Chapter in its formative period.
It is requested that this report be read in every Chapter in the District at the
first meeting of the Chapter after the Annual Convocation of District Grand
Chapter, so that every Companion will be fully aware of its contents.

District Committee of General Purposes
